Tuscany by Balloon: Val d’Orcia and Valdichiana<\/p>\n

We take off at dawn, between 6 and 7 am depending on the season. Early morning flights usually present no problems, whereas flying in the afternoon would be dangerous due to the strong winds from the Tyrrhenian Sea that do not die down until the evening. The operation to prepare the hot-air balloon takes about 30 minutes, and we return mid-morning. <\/p>\n

The flight takes about an hour and a quarter and culminates with a toast at the landing site with sparkling wine and a selection of snacks with regional products and desserts. We then load all the equipment onto our vehicle with a trailer that follows the flight from the take-off site and with the passenger vehicle we return together to the departure site. As far as possible, we retrace the same route of the flight, so that you can see from the ground what you have just seen from above. <\/p>\n

Breakfast<\/strong><\/span>
The snack organised at the landing site at the end of each flight consists of a variety of pastries, bread, pizza, -all freshly brought in from our village bakery. We also offer a typical delicatessen with ham, various salamis and cheeses, and seasonal fruit. All products are fresh from local places, and are paired with award-winning Ferrari Brut sparkling wine. <\/p>\n

The Landscape<\/strong><\/span>
The region we fly over is located in the Crete Senesi, about 50 km south of Siena. It is an area of gentle hills, separated by steep valleys, with many villages of Etruscan origin, castles and isolated farms. To the east and west are two villages known throughout the world for the wine produced there: Montepulciano and Montalcino. To the south is Pienza with the Val d’Orcia. Tuscany Landscape- A chain of wooded hills about 8 km long and at an altitude of about 305 metres separates the Crete di Senesi from the Val di Chiana. This is a very cultivated area, but in the end you always find a place to land! After finding the perfect landing spot and passing castles and villages that have not changed in centuries, we can chat with farmers who are pruning olive trees or tending vineyards. The landscape is really well preserved and is a wonder to behold. <\/p>\n

We stayed at the end of December 2024, we found the room very warm as we had requested, the room very clean even the bathroom. Very rustic, charming and very welcoming from the reception to the room. Equipped with all the accessories dispensabil inside the room and close to the countries to visit. Definitely we will return. Excellent! <\/p>\n

Beautiful building in equally beautiful old village. It was pleasant to walk around and stop to chat with the locals, who were very warm and friendly. Fabulous rooms in the palace, spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. Good breakfast on the terrace with exceptional views. Very friendly staff.Hard to find any weak points. Access by car, in case you have to unload heavy luggage, is certainly not easy, but impossible to improve … <\/p>\n

The structure is wonderful, in a strategic position for visiting the Val d’Orcia, with staff who are always helpful and smiling. The hamlet is a little stone jewel, immersed in peace and silence. Travelling in 3 with the little dog, we were surprised by the double room and double bathroom, perfect for our needs. The furnishings are in style with the place, with elegant frescoes, air conditioning in both rooms and spacious bathrooms. Breakfast, served in the garden with a wonderful view, is plentiful and of high quality. <\/p>\n

Large and comfortable room (we took the suite because we have two small girls ..) overlooking the valley, breakfast good and plentiful and strategic location for visiting the most popular villages of the Val d’Orcia. But above all kindness and hospitality of the staff. Highly recommended. <\/p>\n

Beautiful room cosy and cool and comfortable If I really have to find a flaw it is the uphill walk to get there, but earlier we had unloaded our luggage with the car right in front of reception.<\/p>\n

We happened by chance looking for a solution for the night on our tour in the Val d’Orcia. The palace is located in Petroio one of the many beautiful small villages in Tuscany, the location is beautiful and evocative, the rooms furnished, with taste \u2018old\u2019 and an outdoor courtyard that overlooks a beautiful view. If you are in the area I definitely recommend staying here.<\/p>\n

Excellent location in a very deserving hamlet. The breakfast served in the garden is pleasant. As for the staff Giovanna stands out for professionalism, kindness and courtesy, the rest almost makes it difficult to say hello……meglio that he changes profession.<\/p>\n

Liked: Cleanliness, staff and service, condition and amenities of the room. We stayed in a spacious room with a stunning view of the mountains. The room was very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We travelled with our teenage daughter and we all enjoyed our five night stay very much. The breakfast was fantastic. The town is very charming. <\/p>\n
